Travel has always been more than destinations to me—it’s about the moments in between.
Some of the places that left the biggest impression on my life weren’t famous cities or landmarks. They were the small towns, the unexpected stops, the places you pass through on the way to somewhere else. The conversations, the quiet streets, the feeling of being welcomed even if just for a moment.
After years of moving, traveling, and experiencing different cultures—both in and out of uniform—I noticed something missing. Travel culture celebrated the highlights but overlooked the places that quietly shape the journey. The towns locals are proud of. The stops that don’t make the guidebooks but stay with you.
